ASTEP at SolarPACES 2024 with Poster and Abstract Presentations
The ASTEP project proudly showcased its advancements in solar thermal energy for industrial applications at SolarPACES 2024. Our team presented four technical abstracts and a poster, highlighting ASTEP’s cutting-edge solutions and contributions to concentrated solar power (CSP) and solar heat integration for industrial processes.
The poster, titled “Analyzing the Impact of Latent Thermal Storage on the Performance of a Solar Heat System in Two Industrial Processes,” delves into the critical role of latent thermal storage in optimizing energy efficiency within ASTEP’s solar heat systems.
The four abstracts presented at SolarPACES 2024 included:
- Installation and start-up of two modular rotary collectors for SHIP: first experimental results – Reporting the initial findings from ASTEP’s modular rotary collectors for Solar Heat for Industrial Processes (SHIP).
- Dynamic Model Validation of a Novel Rotatory Fresnel Collector – Discussing the validation of ASTEP’s dynamic model for improved accuracy in real-world applications.
- Correction Factors for Modeling Start-up Behavior of Process Heat Plants – Introducing new correction factors to enhance startup modeling in process heat systems.
- Techno-economic Comparison Between the Parabolic Trough Collector and a Novel Rotatory Fresnel Collector – Comparing the economic and technical viability of two collector technologies for CSP.
ASTEP’s participation in SolarPACES 2024 underscores the project’s dedication to advancing CSP technology for industrial decarbonization. With the deployment of its innovative solar thermal solutions in industries such as the Mandrekas dairy industry and ArcelorMittal Tubular Products, ASTEP is poised to demonstrate substantial environmental and economic benefits.
